About St. James Episcopal Church Women
The St.
James Episcopal Church Women has
organized to become an active service-orientated group of women. In 2003,
Virginia (Ginny) Nunemacher led the efforts to renew the ECW organization.
In January 2004, the groundwork was established and the formal Mission
Statement was developed. Service as well as fellowship forms the foundation
of the ECW. The following women were involved in the development of the
Mission Statement and the Logo: Barb Blazer, Mary Lou Cotter, Roberta
Gordon, Nora Huber, Ginny Nunemacher, Rose Moorhead, Florence Odita, Bev

St. James ECW Organization Format and
Missions
ECW, Episcopal
Church Women, was founded in 1871. It is comprised of women of all ages,
origins and backgrounds. The purpose of ECW is to assist women of
the church in carrying out Christ’s work in the community and the world, and
for women to take their place as leaders in the life, governance and worship
of the Church.
In addition to operating at the local
congregational level, ECW continues at the diocesan, provincial and
national levels. In the Diocese of Southern Ohio, ECW supports:
The United Thank Offering
- UTO is an international organization started in 1899 which gives grants to
churches for capital improvements.
The Church Periodical Club
- The CPC began in 1871 and runs two grant ministries for literature: the
National Books Fund for adults, and A Mile of Pennies for
children.
The Book of Remembrance
- A memorial scholarship foundation since 1926, the Book of Remembrance has
provided scholarship aid to women for graduate studies in the helping
professions. |
